I woke up at 5:00 and went back to sleep until 6:15. Then I got out of bed and went to have breakfast at 7:00. When I came down to the lobby, after picking up my notebook from my room, at 7:30 Ricardo was already waiting for me. We drove to the office in about 25 minutes and were one of the first there. Some of the IT employees were already there and Ricardo introduced me to them. I was provided with an office booth, and first thing I did was call my family. After that I set up my notebook and started checking my email, and the Essbase databases, all the regular things I normally do at the office. It was 9:00 when I found some time to write something in my diary. I had a local printer set up for printing the handouts and exercises for the GSA training. Then I created the necessary userID's for tomorrow and tested them. Felipe had set up a couple of PC's in one of the meeting rooms to check the connection speed for the training tomorrow. The speed was acceptable and we only had some little problems with disconnecting from the Citrix server, so we called Jamie Firth and had that resolved. Simon came in to ask me a few questions about the GSA interface programs; we decided to talk them over together with Ricardo in the afternoon meeting.
At 13:00 Ricardo took me out for lunch. We went to a very nice restaurant. We left at 15:00 so we were a little late for a meeting with Daniel Tellez and Alma Fragoso from the finance department, Simon was also present at the meeting. We discussed a couple of issues like differences between GSA and HFM. Then somewhere during the meeting Ricardo took me to meet Guillermo Tortelero, the general manager. We had a nice conversation and Guillermo agreed to pick me up from the hotel the rest of the week. After that we went back to the meeting and we finalized some decisions. Next Simon and I went over some issues with automating the process of reloading the GSA transaction files and trying to automate the whole process. It was already 19:00 when I left the office. Ricardo dropped me of at the hotel and I went to my room for a while. I had a light dinner at 20:00 and after that I walked through the hotel, admiring the art and architecture. I sat in the Bleu Lounge Bar for a drink until 22:00 and then went to bed.
