The pyramids were once covered with a kind of cement and painted in all different colors. There are no tunnels in the pyramids; they are just solid rock foundations. The altar would be on the top. The walls that have been restaurated all have little stones in the cement, originally that was not done. It is done so that one can recognize what parts of the ruins have been rebuild.
